Exploring the Paritaxis of Images and Traditional Text: Sloppy Theory and Earnest Praxis

An argument for hyperrealist lit.

from Red-eared Slider:

Elvis is dead.
Somebody found him in his bathroom,
his head by the toilet bowl probably,
said Grandma.

Mamma's in Hawaii with her bowling league.
We're sitting on the couch with Grandma,
watching the news.

Toby must have climbed my dresser drawers.
Lucky the whole thing didn't topple.
Now he sits on the couch,
his hands an incubator, a lean-to, a tomb:

Grandma's roots shine
like Christmas tinsel,

        Toby's petting
        my fish.

Elvis's big, pale face
wobbles in the footage,
singing Blue Hawaii.
